Because the islands are perched on the edge of the Puerto Rico Trench, a six mile drop-off that’s the deepest hole in the Atlantic Ocean, some of the most challenging sport fish in the world are found here, including blue marlin, wahoo, tuna, dolphin and kingfish. It’s hard to imagine a more spectacular golf course than “Mahogany Run”. This 6,200 yard, par 70 masterpiece is perched on the northside hills just 5 minutes from Villa Silk Cotton. The 13th,14th, and 15th holes are called the Devil’s Triangle, and once you’ve seen them, you’ll understand why. This part of the course is situated along towering cliffs that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. There’s a driving range, putting green, pro shop, resident pro, and snack bar at the clubhouse.

One mile of white sand lines Magens Bay, named as one of the world’s 10 most beautiful beaches on many lists. Picnic tables, showers, dressing rooms, a boutique and snack bar make it even better. Snorkeling and sunfish rentals are also available. A small admission fee, but only a five minute drive from Villa Silk Cotton! Perfect for weddings.

The smallest of the three main U.S. Virgin Islands is St. John, home of the Virgin Islands National Park. Its beach-lined bays and lush tropical foliage are breathtaking. Enjoy the beauty and wildlife by hiking, snorkeling or scuba diving. Sightseeing at its best, especially at historic Annaberg Plantation with its rum mill ruins dating back to 1733. Only a 20 minute ferry ride from the east end of St. Thomas. You can even take your rental car on the ferry.

The reefs around St. Thomas and St. John offer endlessly fascinating underwater exploration for both expert divers and beginners.
